Michael Rychlewski (Playwright) is a poet, playwright and teacher who began writing Chops 20 years ago and has worked on its development with director Richard Shavzin since its first reading at Chicago Dramatists in 2008. He performed his solo piece My Atget at the Via Festival in Paris in 1994. His play Santa’s Helper was mounted at the 2007 Rhino Fest in Chicago, and Overtime was a finalist at The Sunset Center Theater Competition in Carmel. Two short plays—Jemez Springs and What I Learned at the Movies—were winners at American Theater Company’s Big Shoulders Competition. As Ever, Jenny, was performed at the 10 X 10 Annual Fall Festival of New Plays, and Tom and Jerry won the 2008 Best of the Tens at Second City. For the last four years he has told stories at The Side Project’s annual Festival of Storytelling. Michael is very proud to be teaming with a wonderful director, a great ensemble of actors, and a crack production team.
